◉The difference between [~てもらいます] and [~てくれます]

わたしは Aさんに ノートを かして もらいました。⇦

Aさんは わたしに ノートを かして くれました。⇨

These two sentences indicate that “A lend me his notebook.”

Why is there a two-way expression?

Is there a difference between these two sentences?

「~てもらいます」

「~てもらいます」 is used when someone else does some kind action for you after you made a request.(⇦point)

例(れい) example-1

When you were absent from the lesson and asked your friend Aさん to lend you his notebook.

B: Aさん、せんしゅうの じゅぎょう やすんだから ノートかして。

A, can you lend your notebook to me, as I was absent from last week’s lesson?

A: いいよ! はい、どうぞ。

Sure! Here you are.

⇨わたしは Aさんに ノートを かして もらいました。⇦

例(れい) example-2

When you caught a cold and asked your friend Aさん to buy coconut water for you.

B: Aさん、かぜひいたから、ココナッツウォーター かってきて。

A, can you buy coconut water for me, as I caught a cold?

A: わかった!

  Got it!

⇨わたしは Aさんに ココナッツウォーターを かってきて もらいました。⇦

「~てくれます」

「~てくれます」is used when someone else does some kind action for you without your request. (⇦point)

例(れい) example-1

When you were absent from the lesson, your friend come to you and lend you his notebook.

A: せんしゅう、やすみだったよね。これ、せんしゅうのノートだよ。どうぞ。

 You couldn’t come to the class last week, right? Here is last week’s notebook.

B: わ~!ありがとう!

  Wow, thanks!

⇨Aさんは わたしに ノートを かして くれました。⇨

例(れい) example-2

When you caught a cold, and your friend Aさん comes to your house with coconut water.

A: かぜひいたってきいたよ。だいじょうぶ?ココナッツウォーター、かってきたよ。

  I heard that you caught a cold. Are you OK? I bought the coconut water for you.

B: ありがとう…!

  Thanks…!

⇨Aさんは わたしに ココナッツウォーターを かってきて くれました。⇨

Please try to use 「~てもらいます」and 「~てくれます」depending on the situation:)
