If you love Japanese ramen, you’ve probably heard of Kikanbo, the famous miso ramen shop from Kanda, Tokyo.
When I found out they had opened a branch in VivoCity, I couldn’t resist visiting.✨
Their signature dish, karashibi miso ramen, lets you choose your preferred levels of kara (spice) and shibi (numbing heat from Japanese pepper).
It’s a simple idea, but it makes the experience surprisingly personal — you can find your own balance of warmth and kick.😋
I went for the Tokusen Karashibi Miso Ramen, and it hit all the right notes for me.
The chashu was beautifully soft — the kind that falls apart the moment you touch it — and the miso broth had a rich yet clean flavour that didn’t feel heavy.
I haven’t known many good miso ramen places in Singapore, so discovering this one honestly made me happy.☺️

Miso ramen has always been something I look forward to when I go back to Japan, but now I feel like I finally have a place here that gives me the same comfort.
Next time, I’ll probably order a bowl of rice to go with it — just to make sure I can enjoy every last bit of that broth.🍜
For anyone in Singapore craving something Japanese yet excitingly spicy, Kikanbo is worth checking out.
Thank you for reading!
