What Do Japanese People Actually Do at Hanami?🌸

Every spring, many people travel to Japan to see cherry blossoms.🌸
This tradition is called 花見(Hanami), which means “flower viewing.”
But hanami is not only about looking at the flowers!!
For many Japanese people, it feels more like a picnic and a chance to spend time together.🧺
Friends, families, and even coworkers gather under the sakura trees and enjoy the season.

At a typical hanami, people bring food and drinks and sit on picnic sheets.
You can often see bento boxes, snacks, and sometimes beer, and the atmosphere is relaxed and social.
When I was little, we often made bento in the morning and brought it to the park.🍱
We would spread out a picnic sheet and eat while chatting, and I remember how fun and relaxed that time felt.🌸

If I recommend one place, it would be Osaka Castle Park.
It is spacious and comfortable, and during cherry blossom season many people gather there with food and picnic sheets.
You can enjoy the sakura with the castle in the background, which makes it feel very Japanese.🇯🇵🌿
It’s a great place both for sightseeing and for simply relaxing outdoors.
The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, so even first-time visitors can easily enjoy hanami there.🌸
For me, hanami is not just about seeing flowers.
It is a spring tradition that reminds me of time spent with my family,
and I think I will feel the same way every year when the cherry blossoms bloom.🌸✨
