Discovering Ine Town in Kyoto And Winter Yellowtail 🐟

I recently visited Ine Town this November, a charming fishing village in northern Kyoto that I’d never even heard of until a student recommended it.

They said it was a must-visit for those looking to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Japan.

Curious, I decided to see it for myself. 🧐

Arriving in Ine, I was captivated by the rows of funaya (boathouses) that line the waterfront, creating a postcard-perfect scene.

These unique houses, built with a garage for boats beneath the living quarters, have a history that stretches back over a century. 🚤⚓️

I shared the real highlight of my trip!

November also happens to be the start of kan-buri season. This winter yellowtail fish, known for its deliciously rich, fatty taste, reaches its peak during the colder months.

I ordered a kan-buri set meal, and with the first bite, I was blown away.

The fish was tender, with layers of flavorful fat that seemed to melt in my mouth. Now I understood why locals get so excited for kan-buri season! 🎣😍

Ine Town itself has a quiet charm that feels like a world apart from busy cities like Kyoto or Tokyo.

It’s easy to see why it has gained attention on social media lately, drawing visitors from around the world who are in search of a hidden gem. 😁👍

For anyone looking to explore a different side of Japan, Ine Town and a taste of fresh kan-buri are unforgettable experiences.

If you ever find yourself in Japan during winter, don’t miss out on this seasonal treat!
